Well, this new discovery makes me realize that any future
spiritual advice, counseling, or sharing will have this as the answer. I can’t fix their problems, situations,
marriages, relationships, etc., but I know someone who can and now I can share
my best friend with them, Jesus. This same idea is a unique and beautiful
transition into evangelism efforts as well.
As mentioned earlier, I have a heart for evangelism and
telling people about their need for Jesus and how they can escape Hell and
enter Heaven because of His death on the cross and His subsequent resurrection. The motivation for sharing Christ for me was
that I didn’t want anyone to go to Hell, and I was planting seeds. However, I think that following programs or
formats for presenting the Gospel message are useful and help one stay
organized in that process, they are not as powerful or impacting as they could
be. Let me explain it this way. When you
are talking about God and you are experiencing Him in a day by day growing
relationship it will be impossible to keep quiet and your eyes and face and even
your body language will speak to another about how God is real and working in
your life. This exuberance that is authentic and impossible to contain now
allows you to really help someone because now, even though you don’t have the
answers to the problems or can say how a situation will turn out, I know
someone who does and I would love to introduce Him to you. Wow.
If you know God is working in your life every day, then you are sharing
someone who is impacting your life in such a way that it becomes evident to
everyone around you, then the person you are sharing with can see and feel that
you have something good in your life that they don’t and they need to find out
what it is. This whole process is still
all God’s doing, but now He is changing you in such a way that He uses you to
draw others to Him. So yes, the seriousness of sin and its’ penalty is still
present, but the JOY of knowing someone who is changing your life and now using
you to draw someone to Himself, is a new and exciting way of sharing that I did
not have before.
